Members of the York City Neighbourhood Team arrested three individuals on suspicion of passing counterfeit notes, this afternoon. The investigation continues but this does not appear to be an isolated case, with other businesses having fallen victim. There is the potential that these notes are in use by a number of individuals, not just those arrested. This means that I cannot share specific details but we do wish you to be aware. If you work in a business that involves cash, please be vigilant and check any notes passed. If you find that you have fallen victim please call 101. If you have any suspicion about the legitimacy of money being presented to you, you have the right to politely refuse to accept it. If you are safe and able to do so, please retain the fake note for police. Your safety must always come first. |
